The T kerbstone forms the proven basis for many STRAIL level crossing systems. Made from high-strength concrete (C70/85), it provides a stable, load-bearing base for the outer panels and fits seamlessly into the level crossing structure. Available in 1,200 mm and 600 mm lengths with a standardized profile, the T kerbstone is highly versatile — ideal for both new installations and refurbishment projects. Its solid design ensures reliable, long-lasting performance, even under heavy-duty traffic.

After 45 years of closure, Nordhorn was reconnected to passenger transport. In order to protect local residents and recreational areas along the reactivated line, Bentheimer Eisenbahn AG opted for a combination of three STRAILwave noise protection products: rail web dampers, IP and the mSW 360 mini noise barrier. Level crossing with inno and B kerbstone installed in just three hours
The increasingly tight track possession times in modern track construction require solutions that are not only robust, but above all quick to install. For this project, the choice fell on the efficient combination of the inno system, which is independent of sleeper spacing, and the B kerbstone, which requires no foundation. It took a team of four just three hours to install the entire 5.4-meter-long level crossing. Thanks to the B kerbstone’s foundation-free design, the track could be reopened to traffic immediately after installation.

The component ensures even force transmission to the substructure, especially at busy level crossings, factory access roads or combined traffic areas. Thanks to its standardized geometry, the T-kerbstone can also be easily integrated during renovations and ensures the permanent stability of the crossings.
Installation reliability through system compatibility
Available in two lengths, the T kerbstone can be flexibly adapted to different track geometries and crossing designs. Compatibility with the STRAIL precast foundations and all standard STRAIL outer panels allows fast, precise installation even in confined spaces. As a design-equivalent to the D kerbstone without drainage, the T kerbstone is ideal for sections with low water exposure, where maximum load-bearing capacity is paramount.
