The advantages of STRAILway polymer sleepers

Advantages for rail operators, construction companies and planners
STRAILway sleepers contain high-quality recycled polymer and are made entirely without synthetic resins or steel reinforcements. This saves resources, reduces weight, and improves overall environmental performance. Thanks to their homogeneous structure, they can be easily sawn, milled, planed, or drilled using standard tools—without any health risks for workers. All machining residues are 100% recyclable.
STRAILway is the ideal alternative to wooden sleepers: the polymer sleepers are resistant to rot, pest infestation and moisture, and require no environmentally harmful preservatives. With a service life of more than 50 years and the option for customised machining on site or according to customer specifications, planning and installation processes can be carried out flexibly and efficiently. The sleepers are designed for axle loads of up to 22.5 tonnes and achieve an exceptionally long service life thanks to their resistance to chemicals, UV radiation and ozone.
Whether used as track sleepers, turnout sleepers up to 13 metres in length or bridge sleepers, STRAILway provides a durable, cost-effective and easy-to-install solution for all railway applications – proven, certified and sustainable.

Benefits for the environment, occupational safety and life cycle costs
Railway sleepers based on recycled polymer actively contribute to environmental protection. They replace impregnated wooden sleepers, which often contain creosote-based preservatives, helping to protect the soil and reduce hazardous substances on construction sites. Machining is safe for workers as no harmful volatile pollutants are released.
STRAILway sleepers are not only durable, but also 100% recyclable – both at the end of their service life and through the recycling of machining residues. This not only reduces environmental impact but also significantly lowers disposal costs. Their excellent long-term durability, low thermal expansion and outstanding vibration damping properties minimise maintenance requirements and reduce operating costs over the long term. Thanks to their versatile design, STRAILway polymer sleepers can be used in almost all railway applications, from main lines and industrial facilities to tunnel routes. Longer service intervals, low life cycle costs (LCC) and an excellent carbon footprint make them a future-oriented solution for modern railway construction.
