Infrastructure Project at the Port of Genoa: Road-Rail Vehicle Access Platform and Heavy-Duty Level Crossings

Facts

  • Location: Genoa, Italy
  • Time period: 2026
  • Client: Salcef Group, IMPRESA PAROLDI GIUSEPPE & C. S.R.L.
  • Products: inno, strail
  • Length/Quantity: Road-rail access platform with inno & 2 level crossings with strail

Advantages

  • Flexibly adaptable systems
  • strail: High load-bearing capacity for extreme shear forces caused by intensive port and heavy-duty traffic
  • inno: Sleeper-spacing-independent system for maximum flexibility

Project description

A unique infrastructure project at the Port of Genoa called for an equally unique solution: for the first time, inno was installed on a concrete slab track to create a dedicated road-rail vehicle access platform directly in front of a tunnel portal. The sleeper-spacing-independent system enables rescue and maintenance vehicles to be quickly and safely transferred onto the track, saving crucial minutes in an emergency.

As this major project progressed, two additional technically challenging level crossings were successfully completed in the port area:

  • “Binario Bettolo” level crossing: A technically challenging installation in a full curve with a tight radius of R 150 and a track gauge of 1,450 mm. The strail system was precisely adapted here to the complex track geometry in the port area.
  • “Binario Trincerone” Level Crossing: An impressive 105-metre-long level crossing, specially designed with strail to withstand the extreme shear forces and consistently high loads generated by port and heavy-duty traffic.

We would like to thank our partners on site, Salcef Group and IMPRESA PAROLDI GIUSEPPE & C. S.R.L., for their excellent cooperation on this successful major infrastructure project. Together, we have made the logistics infrastructure at the Port of Genoa a little safer and more efficient.
