Project description

The Bologna–Pistoia railway line, also known as the Porrettana, places high demands on the infrastructure. As part of the refurbishment of a level crossing, the Italian infrastructure company RFI opted for the proven strail level crossing system over a length of 12 metres.

One of the key challenges on site was the demanding drainage situation. To ensure that rainwater was effectively and reliably managed in the crossing area, D kerbstones were used for the first time as part of this refurbishment project.
