Project Description
Despite an existing access ban, the two railway bridges, Pont du Canal and Pont du Rhône in Sion, were regularly used by pedestrians and cyclists as a shortcut. These unauthorised crossings of the railway tracks posed a significant safety risk and an immediate hazard to train operations. The City of Sion was therefore looking for a reliable, long-term solution to effectively prevent access to the bridges.
To secure both access points, grid panels were installed at the entrances to the two bridges. The system combines a strong visual deterrent with the physical deterrent effect of irregularly arranged rubber pyramid tips of different heights:
- Flexible & fast: The panels could be adapted to the specific conditions on the bridges and installed quickly and efficiently.
- Deterrent effect: The physical design makes access extremely difficult, effectively discouraging both people and animals from entering the area.
- No Impact on railway operations: Train services continue to operate safely and without disruption.
