Premiere at the Port of Genoa: inno deployed on slab track

 –

A special infrastructure project at the port of Genoa called for an equally special solution: for the first time, our inno system was installed on a slab track (concrete) to create a dedicated rerailing platform.

Flexibility meets efficiency

Level crossing systems are normally found in classic ballasted track systems. The current application in Italy proves that the inno system can do much more. Directly in front of a tunnel portal in the port of Genoa, we have successfully completed the first of a total of three planned level crossings.

The unique aspect here is the base: instead of gravel, a solid concrete slab serves as the foundation. This highlights the remarkable adaptability of our panels, which can be precisely configured to meet a wide range of structural conditions.

Safety when it matters most

The newly installed area functions as a dedicated rerailing platform for maintenance and rescue vehicles. The benefits are clear:

  • Speed: safe rerailing directly in front of the tunnel portal saves crucial minutes in an emergency.
  • Flexibility: The system is independent of sleeper spacing, allowing it to be positioned wherever needed.
  • Safety: The high slip resistance of STRAIL surfaces ensures reliable vehicle traction.

Strong partnerships for modern infrastructure

This installation is just the beginning – two more projects in the port area will follow soon. We would like to thank our local partners, the Salcef Group and IMPRESA PAROLDI GIUSEPPE & C. S.R.L., for their excellent collaboration. Together, we are making the logistics infrastructure at the port of Genoa a step safer and more efficient.
