Project description
Environmental considerations are playing an increasingly important role in the expansion of modern urban rail networks. In the summer of 2026, a key milestone was successfully completed as part of an ambitious infrastructure project in Slovakia: the installation of 4.8 km of STRAILastic Green Track.
In addition to enhancing the urban landscape and positively influencing the local microclimate, the system stands out for a range of technical features that ensure reliable, long-term performance:
- Noise and Vibration Control: The flexible green track system significantly reduces noise as well as structure-borne and airborne vibrations in densely populated urban areas.
- Reliable stray current insulation: To effectively eliminate the risk of stray currents in urban environments, the system provides durable electrical insulation in compliance with relevant industry standards.
- Optimized system ventilation: Integrated ventilation openings ensure continuous air exchange and provide long-term protection of the underlying track structure against the accumulation of moisture.
- Efficient Water Management: To support the long-term vitality of the vegetation, the system was installed in combination with the BRENS Rail Damper – 2G. The rail damper incorporates Retex, a water-retentive synthetic material that efficiently stores rainwater and gradually releases it to the vegetation as needed.
