Track damping system in Gothenburg: Installation of TOR and GRS in Lindholmen
In collaboration with our partner Christian Berner AB, we successfully completed a major project in the Lindholmen district of Gothenburg. Over a total track length of 3,025 metres, the STRAILastic TOR system and the track frame support (GRS) were installed.
The decision to combine these systems was based on the project’s specific requirements for precision, emission control, and optimized construction timelines:
- TOR system: The system ensures a permanently stable track position and reliable stray current insulation. A key technical advantage is the reduction of vibrations and structure-borne noise. Thanks to its flexible design, the TOR system can be integrated into a wide range of track superstructures. In Lindholmen, it was used to create an environmentally friendly green track in order to optimize urban integration.
- GRS: The GRS track frame support enables precise track alignment in both height and position during installation. This allows the infill concrete between the rails to be poured continuously, eliminating the need for additional grouting and making the construction process more efficient.
Contribution to urban mobility
The use of these components improves the operational safety of Gothenburg’s public transport network while simultaneously reducing noise levels in the urban environment. The implementation of a green track also contributes to the ecological enhancement of Lindholmen’s cityscape.
