How the universal panel works
The universal panel features a surface with irregularly arranged pyramid-shaped studs. This unique geometry effectively discourages unauthorized access to the tracks or the use of the area as a shortcut. The panels can also serve as an additional barrier to reinforce fences. The system is designed for speeds of up to 160 km/h, includes integrated drainage, and is compatible with all types of sleepers.
Application areas of the universal panel
The universal panel is a versatile solution used across railway infrastructure to prevent unauthorized access and ensure safety.
- Stations: Installed at stations such as Ulzburg-Süd in Schleswig-Holstein and Hackerbrücke in Munich, Germany, the universal panel effectively keeps passengers off the tracks. At Ulzburg-Süd, 30 m² were installed in less than four hours, demonstrating the system’s efficiency.
- Bridges: On bridges like the Pont du Rhône and Pont du Canal in Sion, Switzerland, the panels prevent pedestrians and cyclists from entering restricted areas, enhancing safety for all.
- Tunnels: Tunnels are particularly sensitive areas, and the universal panel acts as a reliable barrier. In Corsica, following incidents involving animals, all railway tunnels were equipped with the panels to keep wild and grazing animals out, protecting both the animals and railway operations.
- Reinforcing fences: The panels can also strengthen existing fences, providing an extra layer of protection. In Vorpommern-Greifswald, Germany, they were installed along the border with Poland to help contain the spread of African swine fever.
Easy installation meets sustainability
A key advantage of the universal panel is its straightforward and fast installation. Pre-assembled elements fit neatly into the sleeper spaces and are secured with special screws, while removal for maintenance is equally simple.
Made from recycled rubber granules coated with a high-quality, UV-resistant layer, the panels are both durable and environmentally friendly. At the end of their long service life, they can be reused, thus combining performance with sustainability.
