Project description
The Hungarian railway company GYSEV ZRt. has been successfully using STRAILway bridge sleepers since 2020. Based on their positive experiences with installation and durability, STRAILway was the clear choice for their next refurbishment project – the railway bridge over the tidal channel in Répcelak.
As part of the May 2023 refurbishment, the old, weather-sensitive wooden bridge sleepers were completely replaced with modern STRAILway bridge sleepers. However, the project involved more than just swapping the sleepers:
- Track construction: sections of the railway were dismantled and professionally rebuilt.
- Infrastructure: the level crossing on the two adjacent flood protection embankments was renovated at the same time.
A highlight of the project was the effortless installation of the polymer bridge sleepers. Their precise prefabrication and user-friendly handling allowed the team to stay perfectly on schedule. Today, the STRAILway bridge sleepers provide a durable solution, fully resistant to moisture and the challenging conditions of the tidal channel.
