AT A GLANCE

Halle (Saale) is an important intersection for rail freight transport, as the train formation facility (Halle North) is located north-east of the passenger station. This is one of the most modern train formation facilitys in Europe.

There is a fire brigade access road in the train formation facility that runs in a very narrow curve (r = 190). Track support plates were previously installed in this area. However, due to the tight curve radius and the associated high forces, the track had to be widened.

As it was not possible to correct the track position due to the system-related properties of the track support plates, an alternative solution was required. DB InfraGO AG, Southeast Regional Division, therefore decided to realise a new superstructure and covering together with KRAIBURG STRAIL.

A total of 100 STRAILway polymer sleepers and 60 metres of innoSTRAIL level crossing panels in combination with broad kerbstones were successfully installed. Radius panels were also installed to optimally equalise the forces that occur.

The installation went successfully and the customer is extremely satisfied with this robust and sustainable solution.
