      Project description<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      After 30 years in operation, the superstructure of tram line 25 in Munich was due for a comprehensive renewal. Over a section of 1,880 meters (from Harlaching Hospital to the south of Authariplatz), an ecological and aesthetically pleasing green track was to be installed as part of this refurbishment. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

      Stadtwerke M\u00fcnchen (SWM), Munich\u2019s public utility company, sought a green track profile that would reliably meet two key technical requirements:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      1. Clear separation between the Vignole rails and the grass surface.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
      2. Full stray current insulation of the track.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

        After intensive preliminary investigations by SWM, the STRAILastic_R system was chosen as it delivered excellent results in the tests and fully met all the requirements for insulation and separation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

        The profiles were installed in August 2023 following the tamping work by the construction company Rhomberg Bahntechnik GmbH. The efficiency of the installation was impressive: <\/p>\n\n\n\n

        “The installation of the STRAILastic_R profiles was extremely fast, requiring just a few hammer strikes to secure them in place. In addition, the rubber profiles can be easily cut to size whenever adjustments are needed.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

        The simple and flexible handling of the rubber profiles positively impacted construction progress. Once the profiles were in place, the track bed was perfectly prepared for greening with fleece, a layer of humus, and grass seed. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

        In the end, the construction site was completed a few days earlier than planned thanks to the smooth and quick installation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

        SWM thus not only received a flawlessly insulated and aesthetically pleasing green track, but also benefited from the considerable time saved during installation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
